Illustration for Armed Forces Discipline Act 1971

You can be stopped and searched by a member of the Armed Forces if you are in a special checking area. They can search you, your clothes, and anything you are carrying. They can also search any vehicle, ship, or aircraft you are using. You can be searched if a commanding officer thinks it will help stop smuggling or people having controlled drugs. If the member of the Armed Forces finds something they think is being smuggled, they can take it away from you. It will then be dealt with according to section 99. They can search anyone who is subject to this Act, which includes members of the Armed Forces. This means they can look at anything you have with you to make sure you are not doing anything wrong. They are trying to stop people from smuggling or having controlled drugs.
