When you are part of the Armed Forces serving outside New Zealand, the Chief of Defence Force's powers over service prisons and detention quarters, as stated in section 175, can be used by the officer in charge of your part of the Armed Forces. You need to know that this officer has the same powers as the Chief of Defence Force when it comes to service prisons and detention quarters. The Chief of Defence Force's powers are important for the Armed Forces when they are serving outside New Zealand.
