The Reconsidering Authority is set up to help with sentences of imprisonment or detention. You need to know the Authority has a Judge and two or more superior commanders. The Judge is appointed by the Chief Judge and the superior commanders are appointed by the Judge Advocate General. The people in the Authority are told about their appointment in writing. If someone leaves the Authority, it does not stop the Authority from making decisions. The Authority was changed by the Armed Forces Discipline Amendment Act (No 2) 2007, which you can read more about on the https://legislation.govt.nz/act/public/1986/0120/latest/link.aspx?id=DLM1034268. The Authority keeps working even if there is a vacancy. You can find more information about the changes to the Authority in the Armed Forces Discipline Amendment Act (No 2) 2007.
