You need to know that a Defence Force Order is a type of secondary legislation. This means it is a law made under another law, in this case, section 206. You can find out more about what secondary legislation is in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019. A Defence Force Order starts on the date stated in section 206, even if it has not been published yet. This applies to all Defence Force Orders, unless they only apply to one or more named people.
