35: Commencement of code

You could also call this:

“When a code of practice takes effect”

When a code of practice is created, it doesn’t start working right away. You have to wait a bit before it begins. Usually, the code starts 28 days after it’s published under the Legislation Act 2019. This gives people time to learn about the new code before it starts. Sometimes, the code might say it will start on a later date. If that happens, you’ll need to wait until that date for the code to begin working.
