When you read this part of the law, some words have special meanings. An accessing agency is a public sector agency that can look at law enforcement information, and you can find a list of these agencies in Schedule 4. An agency can be a court when it is doing its judicial work.

You need to know what a holder agency is, which is an agency that holds law enforcement information. This can be a court that holds court records, or a public sector agency listed in Schedule 4 that holds other law enforcement information. Law enforcement information is any information about a person that is listed in Schedule 4.

This information must be about a person who can be identified, and it must be the type of information specified in Schedule 4. This helps you understand what these words mean when you see them in this part of the law. It is all about how agencies share and access personal information.
