Sharing, accessing, and matching personal information - Information sharing

143: Lead agency

You could also call this:

“Who's in charge when government agencies share your personal information”

This law is about who takes charge when government agencies want to share your personal information. It’s called a ‘lead agency’.

A ‘specified agency’ can be a government department, part of a government department, or a special organisation.

If only one specified agency is involved in an agreement to share information, that agency must be the lead agency.

If two or more specified agencies are involved in an agreement to share information, they can decide among themselves which one will be the lead agency.
