23: Application of IPPs in relation to information held overseas

You could also call this:

“Privacy rules for overseas information storage”

If you hold information in another country, you don’t have to follow New Zealand’s Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) if that country’s laws say you must do something different. This means that if the laws of the other country tell you to do something with the information, and it’s not what the IPPs say, you won’t get in trouble for following the other country’s laws.
