"Keeping You and Your Community Safe from Hazards and Emergencies"
This Act is to improve how hazards are managed in a way that keeps you and your community safe. It aims to promote the well-being and safety of the public, and protect property. The Act also wants to help communities manage risks, which means identifying and dealing with things that could hurt people or damage property.
The Act encourages communities to work together to reduce risks, which includes talking to each other about potential dangers and finding ways to stop them from happening. It also involves checking to see if the plans are working and making changes if needed. You can find more information about which Acts are involved in emergency management in section 17(3).
The Act is also about planning for emergencies, such as natural disasters, and responding to them when they happen. It requires local authorities to work together to plan for and respond to emergencies. The Act wants to make sure that local planning fits in with a national strategy and plan, so everyone is working together to keep you safe.
The Act aims to get different agencies and organisations working together to manage emergencies. This means that when something bad happens, everyone will know what to do and will work together to help you and your community. The Act replaces an older law, the Civil Defence Act 1983, to make sure that emergency management is done in the best way possible.
The purpose of the Act is to make sure that you and your community are prepared for emergencies and can respond and recover from them. It wants to help communities reduce risks and keep people safe, and to make sure that everyone is working together to achieve this goal.
