Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002

Powers in relation to transition periods

94K: Evacuation of premises and places

You could also call this:

"When to leave a place for safety"

If you are in a place that is not safe, a Recovery Manager or a police officer can tell you to leave. They can do this if they think it is necessary to keep people alive. They can direct you to evacuate a building or a public place.

A Recovery Manager or a police officer can also tell people not to go to a certain place. This includes public places like parks or shops. They can keep people or vehicles out of a place if they think it is necessary.

You can read more about this in section 94G, but a Recovery Manager or a police officer can still tell you to evacuate a place even if it says something different there.
