Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002

Civil defence emergency management planning and civil defence emergency management duties - Duties of lifeline utilities

62: Minister may exempt lifeline utility

You could also call this:

"The Minister can let some important services, like power or water, not follow certain rules if it's fair."

The Minister can choose to exempt a lifeline utility from some rules. You need to know that this happens when the Minister puts a notice in the Gazette. The Minister can set conditions for this exemption.

The Minister will only do this if they think it is not fair to apply the rules to a particular entity. This entity must be described in Schedule 1, which you can find by following the link to Schedule 1. The Minister can exempt the whole or just part of the entity from the rules.
