"How long the national emergency plan lasts and when it gets updated"

When a national civil defence emergency management plan is made under the Order in Council, it starts on a specific date. This date is at least 28 days after the plan is published under the Legislation Act 2019. You can find out more about how this plan is made by looking at section 39. The plan stays in effect for a certain period of time, which is specified in the Order in Council. If a new plan is not made before this time is up, the old plan keeps being used until it is replaced. You can think of it like a plan that helps keep you safe during emergencies, and it gets updated or replaced from time to time to make sure it stays useful.
