When there is a state of emergency in your area, a Civil Defence Emergency Management Group can take action to help keep you safe. They can do things like clear roads, remove dangerous structures, and provide food and shelter to people in need. They can also set up first aid posts and provide medical help to those who are injured.

The group can also control traffic, provide essential supplies like food and fuel, and take care of dead animals or people if it's necessary for public health. They can give information and advice to the public and work with other people to carry out emergency management tasks. They can even provide equipment and facilities to help with the emergency response.

The Civil Defence Emergency Management Group must follow any directions given by the Minister or the Director, and you can find more information about this by looking at the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act and similar laws, such as s 58(5) from 1983.
