Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002

Powers in relation to civil defence emergency management

93: Person exercising emergency powers to provide proof of identity

You could also call this:

"People using emergency powers must show ID and explain their authority"

If you are using special emergency powers, you must carry proof of who you are and show it if someone asks. You must also be able to explain why you have these powers and what you can do with them if someone asks. When using these powers, you need to be able to show that you have the authority to act in this way, and you can do this by producing evidence or giving a general explanation, as outlined in the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, which is similar to section 59 of the 1983 Act.
