Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002

Miscellaneous provisions - Transitional provisions

120: Amendments to references in documents to civil defence personnel and entities

You could also call this:

"Updating old names in documents to match new civil defence terms"

When you read documents that were created before this Act started, you might see some old names and terms. You need to replace these old names with new ones. For example, "Director of Civil Defence" now means "Director of Civil Defence Emergency Management".

If a document talks about a regional council or territorial authority doing something related to civil defence, you should think of it as the "Civil Defence Emergency Management Group" instead, but only after the Group is formed and its first plan is in place. You also replace "Regional Controllers" or "Group Controllers" with "Group Controller" under this Act, once the first plan for the area is operative. This helps make sure the documents make sense with the new Act.

When you see "state of national emergency" or "state of national civil defence emergency", you can think of it as a "state of national emergency" under this Act, after the first national plan is in place. You also replace "state of regional civil defence emergency" or "state of local civil defence emergency" with "state of local emergency", once the first plan for the area is operative.
