When you are part of a Civil Defence Emergency Management Group, you must make sure your actions follow the national civil defence emergency management strategy. You do this by checking your actions are not inconsistent with the strategy when you exercise or perform your functions, duties, and powers under the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act. The Director also has to ensure their actions are not inconsistent with the national civil defence emergency management strategy.

The Director and the Group have to work together to make sure they are following the same strategy. You can think of the strategy like a plan that helps keep people safe during emergencies. The Group and the Director must always follow this plan when they make decisions or take actions under the Act.
