When you read sections 76 to 79, a relevant building means a building or part of a building used for certain purposes. You will know it is a relevant building if it is used for things like gathering 100 or more people, or providing employment facilities for 10 or more people. It can also be a building that provides accommodation for 6 or more people, or provides an early childhood education and care centre, or nursing and medical care. You should also know that a relevant building can be a place where hazardous substances are present in large quantities. However, some buildings are not considered relevant buildings, like premises of a mission as defined in the Diplomatic Privileges and Immunities Act 1968. In this context, an early childhood education and care centre has the same meaning as in section 10(1) of the Education and Training Act 2020. When you are reading about relevant buildings, you need to remember that it does not include certain types of buildings, like those used for diplomatic missions. You can find more information about what a relevant building is by reading the sections 76 to 79. A relevant building can also be a place that provides specialised care for people with disabilities, or accommodation for people under lawful detention, as outlined in the Parole Act 2002.
