You get a notice of levy shortfall when there is an issue with the amount of money you need to pay. This notice must have enough information to identify what the issues are between you and Fire and Emergency New Zealand. It must also explain why you need to pay a certain amount of money. You need to know what you are expected to pay, including any extra penalties. The notice must clearly state the key facts and the relevant laws that apply to your situation. It must also explain how these laws apply to your specific circumstances. The notice is like a letter that tells you what is happening and why you need to take action. It is meant to inform you of the grounds for the liability, which is a fancy way of saying the reasons why you need to pay the money. You can find more information about similar laws by looking at the Fire Service Act 1986.
