If you hear a fire alarm or someone reports a fire, a person authorised to respond to the emergency can take action. They can try to put out the fire or stop it from spreading, and they can also try to save people and property. They can tell you to stop doing something that might make the emergency worse, ask you to take action to prevent the emergency from getting worse, tell you to leave the area, or tell you not to enter the area near the emergency.
