38Copying and imaging of paper instrument

  1. The Registrar may—

  2. produce a record, copy, or image of a paper instrument lodged under this Act or any other enactment; and
    1. unless it is necessary to retain the instrument so that the record, copy, or image can be understood, return the instrument to the person who lodged it together with a notice stating that a record, copy, or image has been made.
      1. The Registrar may use the record, copy, or image for the purposes of registering the instrument or performing any other statutory function.

      2. If the record, copy, or image is used in that way, it must be treated as if it—

      3. were the original instrument; and
        1. had been lodged at the same time as the original instrument.
