The Governor-General can make changes to land registration districts. You can think of a land registration district as an area of land that is managed together. The Governor-General can change the boundaries of a district, combine two or more districts, create new districts, give a name to a district, or get rid of all districts. When the Governor-General makes a change, the Registrar does not have to update the records unless they think it is necessary. An order to make these changes is a type of secondary legislation, which has its own rules for publication, as outlined in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
