This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Illustration for Planning Bill

The Minister can change a national standard without following the usual process if it's needed for a specific reason. You might see changes to align with a New Zealand Standard or to implement international agreements. The Minister can also make minor changes or correct errors. The Minister can make these changes for several reasons, including to give effect to a national adaptation plan or to extend the time frame for implementing a national standard. You can also expect changes to remove provisions that are no longer needed due to changes in legislation. The Minister can make these changes to correct errors or make similar technical alterations. If the Minister makes changes under this section, section 69 does not apply. You can find out how these changes are approved by looking at section 74. This section explains the process for approving amendments made under this section.
