This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

206: Requirements related to ministerial directions

You could also call this:

"What the Minister must do when giving directions to local authorities"

Illustration for Planning Bill

If the Minister gives a direction under section 203 or 205, they must write to the local authority. They must explain why they gave the direction and what they want to achieve. They must also ask the local authority to confirm they have followed the direction. If the Minister gives a direction under section 204, they have extra requirements. They must ask the local authority to respond within 20 working days. They must also ask the local authority to explain how they will follow the direction. The Minister must make all this information public, including their reasons and the local authority's response. You can find this information once the Minister has made it available. This is what the proposed law says the Minister must do.
