This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Illustration for Planning Bill

When a spatial plan committee is preparing a draft regional spatial plan, you will be consulted if you are an iwi authority in the region. You will also be consulted if you are a customary marine title group in the region, but only on parts of the plan that affect the coastal marine area. The committee must tell you beforehand that they are preparing a draft plan and give you the plan before they make it public. The committee must also give relevant parts of the draft plan to customary marine title groups before making it public. They must ask for your views on the draft plan or the relevant parts of it. This is so you can have a say in what the plan looks like.
