This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Planning Bill

Foundations - Key instruments - Classification of activities

34: Specified prohibited activities

You could also call this:

"What activities are not allowed in certain areas"

Illustration for Planning Bill

You will not be allowed to do certain activities. These activities include prospecting, exploring, or mining for Crown-owned minerals in the internal waters of the Coromandel Peninsula. You will also not be allowed to mine if the main purpose is to mine mercury. You can still do some prospecting, exploring, or mining activities in the internal waters of the Coromandel Peninsula. This is if they are set out in section 61(1A) of the Crown Minerals Act 1991. These activities are allowed even though they are normally prohibited. The rules about what you can and cannot do will help with the Classification of activities in the Planning Bill. You need to know what activities are prohibited so you can follow the rules. The Planning Bill is a proposed change to existing law.
