This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Illustration for Planning Bill

If a new plan is proposed, you need to write a report that explains how the plan follows certain rules. You must say how the plan implements the spatial plan and any national policy directions that apply. You also need to explain how the plan meets any relevant goals, as allowed by section 12(4). The report must summarise why you chose certain parts of the plan from a national standard, if you had a choice. You must also say if the plan was influenced by talking to people before it was officially announced, as described in clause 5 of Schedule 3, or by engaging with local communities in other ways. The report should have enough information to show what the main parts of the plan are. However, you do not need to talk about every single detail of the plan in the report.
