If a new regional spatial plan is being prepared, you need to know that local authorities in each region must agree on some key things. They must agree on what areas and issues the plan will focus on, and what role each local authority will play in the process. They must also agree on how they will work together and with other groups, including central government and iwi authorities. You will work with local authorities to agree on how they will work with infrastructure providers and communities. They must make sure they follow the rules in this Part, Schedule 2, and any national standards or regulations when making these agreements. The local authorities must write down what they have agreed on and make it available to the public. The local authorities must agree with the local authorities in nearby regions on how they will work together. They must set out all the things they have agreed on in a document and make it public. This is part of the process for creating a new regional spatial plan.
