This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Natural Environment Bill

Foundations - Environmental limits - Action plans and caps on resource use

63: General content of action plans

You could also call this:

"What needs to be in a plan to protect the environment"

Illustration for Natural Environment Bill

The proposed law says you can have an action plan that talks about how to make decisions on permits for using natural resources. You can also use it to review the conditions of permits and prepare rules for a natural environment plan. It can even include limits on how much of a resource can be used. The action plan must include anything that national standards say it has to, and it must follow those standards. You can put other things in the plan if you think they will help achieve its purpose. This can include things that other groups or people will do under different laws. If a natural environment plan or part of it starts to apply and it is about the same things as the action plan, the regional council must think about updating the action plan to match.
