The Governor-General can make rules about how long it takes to process an application for a natural resource permit. You will have rules to follow when you apply for a permit. These rules can say how long each step of the process should take. The rules can also say what to do if you need more time to complete a step. They can explain what is included and what is not included in the time it takes to process your application. You can find more information about these rules in the Legislation Act 2019, specifically in Part 3. These rules can apply to all of New Zealand or just to certain areas. They can also apply to all types of natural resource permits or just to specific types. The rules are a type of secondary legislation, which means they are made under an Act of Parliament.
