You will see the term 'rule' in this proposed law. A rule refers to a part of a key instrument that does certain things. It can classify activities as permitted, restricted, or prohibited. You can think of a rule as something that sets conditions for activities. It can specify what you need to do to carry out a permitted activity. It can also set conditions for restricted or discretionary activities. A rule can also be about applications for natural resource permits. It can say what information you need to include in your application. It can even specify whether your application needs to be notified to the public. Some rules can also be found in a natural environment plan. These rules can allocate natural resource activities or set requirements for certain processes, like market-based allocation or comparative permitting, as outlined in sections like section 99 and section 100.
