When a court is deciding on a sentence, some rules apply. Nothing in sections 19, 20, and 20A lets a court give a sentence it could not give otherwise. You can read more about these sections in the links to sections 19, 20, and 20A.

The rules also do not stop a court from making an order it has the power to make when someone is convicted. This applies to orders under this law or any other law. You can compare this to a similar law from 1985, s 13(8), (9).

A court's power to make orders is not limited by these rules. This means a court can still make any order it is allowed to make.
