54AA: When time ceases to run on sentence of supervision

Illustration for Sentencing Act 2002

When you are serving a sentence of supervision, time stops counting during a certain period. This period is from when an application under section 54(1)(a) is made to when the court makes a decision about it. The court can still count some or all of this time as time served, depending on what they think is fair. They will consider how well you followed the conditions of your sentence and how much time you spent in custody when making their decision.
