Sentencing Act 2002

Sentences, orders, and related matters - Home detention

80Z: When home detention ends

You could also call this:

"Home detention ends on your finish date or when a court says it's over"

Illustration for Sentencing Act 2002

You stop being on home detention when you reach your detention end date or a court cancels your home detention sentence. You have a detention end date that is set when you are sentenced. A court can also cancel your home detention sentence at any time.

If your detention end date is on a day when you are not normally released, you will stop being on home detention on the day before that. This means you will follow the rules of your home detention until the last day that is not a non-release day. Then you will be free from those rules.
