If you get a sentence of community work, you must go see a probation officer in the area where you live. You have to do this as soon as you can, and no later than 72 hours, after you get your sentence. However, if your sentence start date is delayed under section 20A(2)(b) or 57A, you must go see the probation officer within 72 hours of the new start date. You also have to go see the probation officer at any other time they tell you to, so they can check on how you are doing with your sentence. The probation officer needs to make sure you are following the rules of your community work sentence.
