69: Civil liability remedies available under this subpart

If you break a rule in this law, there are different ways you can be punished. These are called civil liability remedies. There are four types of these remedies:

You might have to pay a fine. There are two levels of fines, depending on how serious the rule-breaking was.

Someone might officially say that you broke the rule. This is called a declaration of contravention.

You might have to pay money to make up for any damage or loss you caused. This is called a compensatory order.

You might be told to stop doing something or to do something specific. This is called an injunction.

In this law, when they talk about a civil liability provision, they mean the rules that are listed in section 71(1) or 72(1) of the act.
