This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it
to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

72: Civil liability remedies available under this subpart
You could also call this:
“What happens if someone breaks the rules in this bill?”
This bill proposes a new set of ways to deal with people or companies who break certain rules. These ways are called civil liability remedies. You might hear about four different types of these remedies:
A pecuniary penalty order, which means the person who broke the rules might have to pay money as a punishment. There are two levels of how much they might have to pay.
A declaration of contravention, which is like an official statement saying someone broke the rules.
A compensatory order, which means the person who broke the rules might have to pay money to make up for any harm they caused.
An injunction, which is when a court tells someone to stop doing something that breaks the rules.
The bill also explains what a ‘civil liability provision’ means. It’s any part of the law mentioned in sections 74(1) or 75(1) of this bill. It also includes section 63, but only for some parts of the bill, not for sections 73 to 79.
