Customer and Product Data Act 2025

Regulatory and enforcement matters - Infringement offences

65: What infringement notice must contain

You could also call this:

“What information a special letter about breaking a rule must include”

When someone breaks a rule in the Customer and Product Data Act 2025, they might get an infringement notice. This notice is like a special letter that tells them what they did wrong. The notice has to include certain information to make sure it’s fair and clear.

The notice needs to tell you exactly when and where you broke the rule, and what you did. It also has to say how much money you need to pay as a fine. The notice will give you the address of the person in charge, called the chief executive.

You’ll find out how to pay the fine and by when you need to pay it. The notice will also explain what happens if you don’t pay or if you want to argue about it. It will tell you that you have the right to ask for a hearing if you don’t agree with the notice.

The notice will include a short explanation of a part of another law called the Summary Proceedings Act 1957. This helps you understand your rights. Finally, the notice might have some other information that the rules say it needs to have.

All of this information is there to make sure you understand what’s happening and what you can do about it.
