This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

123: Sharing of information with certain law enforcement or regulatory agencies

You could also call this:

“Sharing important information with special government teams to help them do their job”

This proposed law is about sharing information between different government agencies. The chief executive, who is in charge of this law, can share information with certain other agencies if it helps them do their job.

The chief executive can give information to agencies like the Commerce Commission, the Department of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Privacy Commissioner, and the Trust Framework Authority. They can also share information with other people or agencies if the rules say so.

The chief executive can use information that these agencies give them to do their job under this law. This sharing of information can happen even if there’s a contract or agreement that says it shouldn’t.

This new rule doesn’t stop the chief executive from sharing information in other ways that are already allowed by law. It’s just an extra way to share information that might be helpful.
