This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Customer and Product Data Bill

Regulated data services - Additional obligations - Electronic system

29: Chief executive may require data holder to test electronic system

You could also call this:

“The boss can ask companies to check if their computer systems follow the rules”

The proposed law would allow the chief executive to ask a data holder to test their electronic system. This is to make sure the system follows the rules mentioned in section 28 of the bill. The chief executive can ask for this in writing.

If the chief executive asks, the data holder must do two things. First, they need to test their system. Second, they need to write a report about the test and give it to the chief executive.

The data holder must do these things in the way the chief executive asks and by the time the chief executive says. This means they can’t choose when or how to do the test and report.

The bill also mentions that there are more details about how notices should be given in sections 139 and 140.
