66: When infringement notice may be issued

This part of the law is about when someone might get an infringement notice. An infringement notice is like a ticket that says you’ve broken a rule. The proposed law says that the chief executive can give you one of these notices if they think you’re breaking a rule right now, or if they think you broke a rule in the past. But they can’t just do this for no reason. They need to have good reasons to believe you’ve done something wrong. This is part of a new law that’s being suggested, so it’s not the rule yet, but it might become the rule in the future.

The chief executive may issue an infringement notice to a person if the chief executive believes on reasonable grounds that the person is committing, or has committed, an infringement offence.
