Customer and Product Data Act 2025

Regulatory and enforcement matters - Civil liability - Jurisdiction

93: Jurisdiction of District Court

You could also call this:

“The District Court can handle certain cases about customer and product data”

The District Court can make decisions about orders or use other powers under sections 78 to 83 in certain situations. You can go to the District Court if:

The amount of money involved is not more than $350,000, or if there’s no money involved at all.

The court can also make these decisions if the need for an order comes up during other court cases that are already happening in the District Court.

If everyone agrees, the District Court can handle these cases even if they would usually go to a higher court. This agreement is based on a rule in the District Court Act 2016.

Remember, the District Court is like a lower-level court that deals with many everyday legal issues. It’s important to know when you can use this court for your legal needs.
