Customs and Excise Act 2018

Entry and exit of goods, persons, and craft - Forfeiture, seizure, and condemnation - Condemnation

185B: Notice of seizure and condemnation of goods that are tobacco or tobacco products

You could also call this:

"When Customs takes tobacco products, they tell you why in writing."

Illustration for Customs and Excise Act 2018

If goods that are tobacco or tobacco products have been seized and taken by the Crown under section 185A, Customs will let you know as soon as they can if they think you have an interest in the goods. They will also tell your agent in New Zealand if you are overseas. You will get a written notice with the reasons why the goods were seized and taken. The seizure and taking of the goods is still valid even if Customs forget to send you the notice, as long as they tried to give it to you.
