Illustration for Customs and Excise Act 2018

When you arrive in New Zealand on a craft, this law applies to you. You must follow every direction given by Customs when it is time to get off the craft. You have to do what Customs tells you to do when you disembark.

After you get off the craft, you must go to a special area controlled by Customs unless they tell you something different. You have to stay in this area for as long as Customs needs to check you and your things. This is so a Customs officer can do their job and follow the rules of this Act.

There may be some exceptions to these rules, which can be found in regulations. You can find more information about a similar law by looking at s 28.
