The chief executive can ask a commercial transportation operator to give Customs some information. You need to know that this information is about people who are travelling to or from New Zealand. The operator must give Customs all the information they have about these people, including what is in their passenger name record.

The chief executive will tell the operator what information to give and when to give it. The operator must give the information between 72 hours before the person's flight and 24 hours after the flight. The chief executive will decide how the operator should give the information.

When the chief executive is deciding what information to ask for and how to get it, they must think about the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization under the Convention on International Civil Aviation. You can find more information about this by looking at the Convention on International Civil Aviation and the International Civil Aviation Organization.
