Entry and exit of goods, persons, and craft - Arrival and departure of goods, persons, and craft - Departure of craft

44: Craft departing from place other than Customs place

You could also call this:

"Leaving New Zealand from a non-Customs place has the same rules as leaving from a Customs place."

Illustration for Customs and Excise Act 2018

If you are on a craft that is leaving New Zealand from a place that is not a Customs place, the same rules apply as if you were leaving from a Customs place. This means that the people checking the craft have the same powers as they would at a Customs place. You and the goods on the craft are treated as if you were in a special area before the craft leaves, even if you are not actually in one of those areas.
