When you apply for a practising certificate, the Registrar sends your application to the Board. The Board must then consider your application. They check if you are competent to work as a social worker under section 38, unless your application was sent because of section 30(1)(b)(iii) or (2A).

If your application was sent because of section 30(1)(b)(iii) or (2A), the Board checks if you are fit to work as a social worker under section 47. You can find out more about what the Board needs to do when considering your application in section 32 and section 33.

The Board makes a decision about your application, and you can find out about the terms of their decision in section 33.
