To practise as a social worker, you must be registered and your registration must not be suspended. You must also practise within the terms of your individual scope of practice, which is authorised under section 8A, and comply with any conditions that apply to your practice. You need to hold a current practising certificate issued by the Board, and it must not be suspended.

If you are a social worker, you do not have to follow these rules in an emergency. You also do not have to follow them if you are doing an examination, assessment, or competence review that the Board requires or orders.

You have to meet these requirements to practise as a social worker, unless you are in one of these special situations.
