Social Workers Registration Act 2003

Discipline - Professional conduct committees

72A: Board’s consideration of committee recommendation for resolving complaint

You could also call this:

"The Board decides what to do about a complaint against a social worker after a committee makes a suggestion."

Illustration for Social Workers Registration Act 2003

When you make a complaint about a social worker, a committee looks at it and makes a recommendation. The Board then considers this recommendation and decides if it agrees with it. If the Board agrees, it must implement the recommendation.

If the Board does not agree with the recommendation, it sends the complaint back to the committee to look at again. The Board must tell the Registrar, the social worker, and the person who made the complaint about its decision and the reasons for it.

The Board must also tell them about any actions it takes, and it must do this in writing, as stated in section 72(2A) and based on the recommendation made under section 71(1)(b)(ii) to (v).
