The Governor-General can make regulations for certain purposes, such as regulating how the Board, the Tribunal, or professional conduct committees work. You can think of regulations like rules that help make sure everything runs smoothly. The Governor-General can also make regulations about how social workers identify themselves when dealing with the public.

The Minister must talk to the Board before recommending that the Governor-General make any regulations. Regulations are a type of secondary legislation, which means they are rules made under an Act of Parliament - you can learn more about this in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.

The Governor-General can make regulations for other things that are necessary to make the Social Workers Registration Act work properly.
