When you are choosing people to be on the Social Workers Disciplinary Tribunal, the Minister must think about the person's qualifications, knowledge, and experience. The Minister must consider if the person has the right skills to make good decisions on the Tribunal. The Minister is looking at people to appoint under section 116(1)(b).

The Minister also needs to make sure the Tribunal has enough people who represent Māori and other ethnic and cultural groups in New Zealand. This is so the Tribunal has a good mix of people with different backgrounds and ideas. The Minister wants to ensure the Tribunal is fair and understands different perspectives.

The Minister has to consider all these things when deciding who to appoint to the Tribunal. This helps the Tribunal make good decisions about social workers. You can find more information about the Social Workers Disciplinary Tribunal in the Social Workers Registration Act 2003.
