If you help an intelligence and security agency, you are protected from getting in trouble. This is if you do something or don't do something in good faith and with reasonable care. You must be following a request made under section 25 or a direction given under section 27.

If you work for an intelligence and security agency, you are also protected from getting in trouble. This is if you make a false document in good faith and with reasonable care under section 23(3).

31Immunity of persons assisting and of employee of agency in making false documents

  1. A person is protected from civil and criminal liability, however it may arise, in relation to any act that the person does, or omits to do, in good faith and with reasonable care in the course of complying with—

  2. a request made under section 25; or
    1. a direction given under section 27.
      1. An employee of an intelligence and security agency is protected from civil and criminal liability, however it may arise, in relation to any act that the employee does, or omits to do, in good faith and with reasonable care in the course of making a false document under section 23(3).

      2. In subsection (2), employee has the same meaning as in section 4.
